Paintings in a variety of media inspired by the Yorkshire landscape, especially the crags and cliffs. Recent work includes the North Yorkshire coast.
I have been painting and drawing from an early age, and studied Fine Art and Film at Leeds University.
As a child I grew to love the Peak district from my father, who was a keen walker. I have lived in Sheffield for over 10 years, re-engaging with my love of the area, and painting.
My current work is inspired by rugged scenery and the huge variety of landscape throughout Yorkshire and Derbyshire. I like walking in hills and mountains and sketching directly from nature, trying to catch the atmosphere and patterns. I then work up ideas in my studio. My work is constantly changing – with my mood, the weather and my environment.
I work in a variety of media depending on the subject matter. I try to avoid the pretty or predictable, and don’t like to be fixed to a particular style.
