As a Narrative Artist, I work in traditional materials including etching and watercolour to explore the collective unconscious through fairytale, myth and symbol, striving to make something more tangible through image.

I am most interested in the human condition and what makes us who we are. My work is inspired by myth, folklore, fairytale and how they unconsciously play out their themes within us all. My inspiration comes from the exploration of my unconscious, such as dream material and the symbolism within them, and the conscious natural world, such as the woods.

I am interested in the archetypal image of the unconscious that can be seen as universal and non-changing through time. My work is often small and highly detailed as I want to draw people into looking at the smallest of the things, the almost hidden.

I work in traditional materials such as etching, stitch and watercolour and try to explore through image what is often difficult to make sense of and make more tangible. I would call my work narrative art.

STUDIO: I will be working on the etching process within my studio explaining what is involved in making a copper or aluminium plate.
